Politics - Andyford Mayele Banda

My Political Views are drawn from our values as Zambians, and from political ideologies that have works all over the world for decades

I believe that leadership is about service, not privilege. It is about restoring dignity, fairness, and accountability to public office. My political philosophy is simple: Zambia can and must work for all its people, not just for the few who are connected to power.

Over the years, I have seen how corruption, tribalism, and greed have weakened our nation. We are rich in resources, but poverty still defines the lives of too many Zambians. That reality must change. My mission is to reform the system that has failed ordinary citizens and to build a government that reflects the values of honesty, empathy, and competence.

1. GOVERNANCE WITH INTEGRITY

I stand for reformist governance rooted in merit and accountability. Every appointment, every policy, and every decision must serve the public interest, not personal or political gain. Corruption, nepotism, and cronyism have no place in the Zambia we want to build. I will ensure that institutions of governance are strong, independent, and trusted by the people.

2. AN ECONOMY THAT WORKS FOR ZAMBIANS

Zambia’s economy must serve its citizens first. Our natural wealth, from our land to our minerals, must benefit the people of Zambia before anyone else. My economic vision focuses on empowering local farmers, entrepreneurs, and small businesses; supporting fair wages and dignified work; and promoting local ownership in key sectors. When Zambians take charge of their own economy, prosperity becomes sustainable.

3. EMPOWERING THE YOUTH

More than 70% of our population is under 35. I see this as Zambia’s greatest opportunity, not its burden. My goal is to empower young people with education, innovation, and leadership opportunities. We must equip them with the skills and confidence to drive the next wave of national transformation. Youth must not only participate in politics, they must help shape the future of governance itself.

4. UNITING THE NATION

Our politics have been divided into camps for too long. I reject the idea that progress can only come from one side. Zambia’s strength lies in its diversity, in our shared hopes and common struggles. I am committed to healing the divisions that have held us back, to building bridges between regions, and to ensuring that no Zambian is left out because of tribe, background, or belief.

5. PEOPLE-CENTRED LEADERSHIP

Leadership, to me, is about empathy, about listening to the people and responding to their real needs. I believe in a government that puts citizens first, that values dialogue over domination, and that measures success not by speeches but by the quality of life for its people.

Zambia stands at a turning point. We can continue down the path of division and dependency, or we can rise together to create a nation of fairness, prosperity, and opportunity. I choose reform. I choose unity. I choose the people.

Together, let us build a new Zambia that listens, empowers, and delivers.
